Yorktown is a desirable Arlington, Virginia community. Residents flock to this neighborhood because it not only guarantees access to one of the most desirable schools in the area, but is also full of great features including parks, convenience and, of course, beautiful homes.

This North Arlington neighborhood  borders Rock Spring, Williamsburg, Leeway, Tara-Leeway Heights, Highview Park, Old Dominion and Donaldson Run. Yorktown is one of the larger neighborhoods in the area, with more than 1,000 homes. Beginning at the corner of Lee Highway and N Jefferson Street, Yorktown continues north up N Jefferson Street, east along N Little Falls Road, then east along N Rock Spring Road, south on Old Dominion Drive, west along 26th Street N, south down N Columbus Street, then directly diagonal from 24th Road N. The community is also directly west of Washington Golf and Country Club and Marymount University.

Yorktown homes on the larger side of homes for sale in Arlington, and generally have a minimum of 2500 square feet. Each home also has its own style and flair. Greenbrier Court is a group of townhomes situated in the southern end of the neighborhood in a private cul-de-sac off of Lee Highway. Even though the townhome community is located so close to a main road, it has a nice private atmosphere. The townhouses have brick exteriors, four levels of living space and a great location within walking distance to Harris Teeter and all of the shops of Lee Harrison Shopping Center. Rixey View is a cluster of townhomes located in northeast Yorktown right across from Marymount University. This community has a total of 14 towhomes with 4 levels, 2-car garages and spacious floor plans with many totaling up to 4000 square feet.

Things to Do in Yorktown

As far as dining and entertainment options go, Yorktown is easily within each of the most popular spots in and around Arlington. For dining, there is a good amount of local spots close or in the neighborhood, including Elevation Burger, Pie-Tanza and District Taco. Clarendon, Rosslyn and Ballston are also close by, which all have an abundance of restaurant, shopping and nightlife options. The great thing about living in Arlington is that Washington, DC is also easily within reach. Georgetown is just about a quick drive away from the neighborhood and has some of the best restaurants and shopping in the city.

Arlington’s parks are one of the most appealing parts of the Northern Virginia town. In Yorktown, there are a couple of beautiful parks, perfect for recreation. Greenbrier Park has 18 acres of space, a basketball court, baseball fields and is home to the Yorktown Patriots. Chestnut Hills Park is connected to Greenbrier and has three acres of space, a playground and a community garden.

Transportation Around Yorktown

For most of Yorktown, traveling via car is the best and most convenient option. Main access roads like Lee Highway, N Yorktown Boulevard and N Glebe Road give residents straightforward routes to popular destinations, including Washington, DC and out west to Tysons Corner, Dulles and Fairfax. Public transit is also available from a couple of locations in the neighborhood. The nearby Rosslyn Metro station is serviced by the Orange, Blue and Silver lines and brings passengers into Washington, DC, out to Tyson’s Corner, Reston, Pentagon City and Ronald Reagan Airport.

Duck Donuts

Duck Donuts is one of the Lee Highway corridor's newest hot spots. It opened in October of 2015, and serves these delectable donuts most Arlingtonians have been indulging in for years while vacationing on North Carolina's Outer Banks. There is sure to be a line there early Saturday mornings, but it is worth the wait. These fresh basked custom donuts are out of this world.
